Send an iOS bug reportYes — completely. Every feature runs on your device and works with no signal, including in Airplane Mode. TorchGuard makes no network requests at all.
Yes. You pay once and own the app. There is no subscription, and there are no ads or in-app purchases. Feature updates are free for the life of the app.
No. TorchGuard collects no personal data, contains no analytics or ad SDKs, and never accesses your location. The only thing it stores is an optional emergency contact you enter yourself, kept locally on your device. See the Privacy Policy for details.
A few things to check:
Move away from anything magnetic or metal (car bodies, speakers, magnetic phone mounts and cases can all interfere), then wave the phone in a figure-eight motion a few times. You can also tap Calibrate on the compass screen. A magnetometer compass is only as accurate as its surroundings allow, so an open area gives the best reading.
Open Settings in the app and enter a name and phone number (or email). It's saved only on your device and is never uploaded. From the Car Breakdown screen you can then reach that contact in one tap. To remove it, clear the fields in Settings or uninstall the app.
Running the torch at full brightness, the strobe, or the siren for long periods uses more power, as you'd expect from any high-output light or sound. In a real emergency, use the brightest modes in bursts to conserve battery, and switch to Beacon or Red Light for longer, lower-drain signalling.
Shake-to-toggle is optional and can be switched on or off in Settings. Make sure it's enabled there. A firm shake works best; a gentle movement may not register, which is intentional to avoid accidental toggles in your pocket.
Because Apple and Google handle all payments, refunds are requested through them, not through us. On iPhone/iPad, use Apple's "Report a Problem" page for your purchase history. On Android, use Google Play's order history to request a refund.
A safety reminder: TorchGuard is a powerful backup, not a replacement for a proper emergency kit. Pack water, a radio, first aid, and a dedicated flashlight — then keep TorchGuard on your home screen for the moments the kit isn't in reach.
